Capital Mundial do Livro / World book capital

Durante um ano, de 23 de Abril de 2008 a 22 de Abril de 2009, Amesterdão será a Capital Mundial do Livro, uma honra atribuída à capital holandesa pela UNESCO. O Bookbid apresenta toda a programação.

From April 23rd 2008 to April 22nd 2009, Amsterdam will be World Book Capital, a distinction awarded to the Dutch capital by the UNESCO. The Bookbid presents all the events.

Second in a series of Book Projects created by artist Jennifer Khoshbin and philopher Paul Lewis. 30 carved books to be "lost" on the sidewalks and alleyways of Houston Street, San Antonio, Texas to whom ever might discover, examine, take, or just ignore them.

O trabalho de Stefanie Posavec mostra que a cartografia pode ser usada para algo mais do que a representação do espaço geográfico. Pegando na obra Pela Estrada Fora de Jack Kerouac, a artista propõe a representação da sua estrutura linguística, partindo de um conjunto de regras desenvolvidas por si e que pretendem representar o ritmo da linguagem do autor, os temas abordados na obra e a dimensão das suas frases.

The work of Stefanie Posavec shows that mapping can be used for something more than the representation of geographical space. Taking Jack Kerouc's On the Road, the artist puts forward a representation of its linguist structure according to a set of rules developed by her that represent the author's language, the themes addressed within the book and the length of his sentences.

Num artigo da The New York Review of Books, The Charms of Wikipedia, uma recensão à obra Wikipedia: the Missing Manual da autoria de John Broughton, Nicholson Baker revela a vida difícil de um editor da enciclopédia on line e desenterra alguns dos seus tesouros escondidos e apagados.
"Recentemente, alguém propôs uma Wikimorgue - um caixote do lixo de sonhos desfeitos onde se poderiam ainda ler todos os artigos rejeitados, desde que não fossem difamatórios ou ilegais.
